PUCO’s Hazardous Materials Training Grant Program Awarded The University of Findlay Funding to Provide Free Training for the following two target groups:
1) These funds are designated for Ohio Volunteer Firefighters for Emergency Response training at the Technician, Operations and Awareness Levels, as well as Incident Command.
2) A special feature of this program is UF’s Rail HazMat Response course that is available to ALL Ohio public First Responders. So, whether you are an Ohio Volunteer Firefighter or any Ohio public First Responder, this course can be brought to your location.
That is the strength of The University of Findlay program - bringing the training to the trainees, at a time convenient for public servants. That means University instructors will offer the training in the evenings, on weekends, or regular weekday hours. The delivery will be customized to each department’s specific needs and availability.
The University of Findlay’s School of Environmental and Emergency Management has provided this Hazardous Materials (HazMat) training to Ohio’s Volunteer Firefighters and other public First Responders through grants made available by the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) since 1996.
The courses teach trainees the proper techniques for the management of hazardous materials spills and releases that occur during transportation. The University is currently training over 500 of Ohio’s First Responders per year. Over the life of this partnership with PUCO we have trained more than 4,900 people at approximately 150 different locations around the state. Presently, the University is scheduling classes made possible by the most recent award mentioned above. There are still funds available for your department to participate in this free and valuable training program. Please call Jennifer Risner at 419-434-5762 or email at risner@findlay.edu to register. For details about any specific course, please call Matt Bruskotter at 419-434-5599 or email at bruskotter@findlay.edu. | |
