The Central Ohio Trauma System (COTS) has provided funding and direction to develop and deliver training under a 2 year project which will assist hospitals with increasing their number of trained decontamination team members.
The University of Findlay was awarded a contract to develop and deliver training to assist COTS in meeting this goal. The training program will consist of two courses:
- 40 Hour Hazardous Materials/Response Technician-Level Training; and
- 8 Hour Hospital Decontamination Operations Training
This flier describes the 40 Hour Technician-level training. The 40 Hour Hazardous Materials/Emergency Response Technician training course will meet and exceed the code of federal regulations for hazardous materials Technician Training. In addition, the course will include a Hospital Incident Command module and Train-the-Trainer modules designed to provide attendees with adult learning techniques and the materials to administer future hospital decontamination annual refresher updates to decontamination team members at COTS hospitals. This course will be conducted on two occasions at the host hospitals identified at the left of this page.

NOTE: This course is available only to COTS member hospitals. Due to grant
guidelines, you are not eligible to register for this class unless you
can verify during registration that you are employed at one of the COTS
