This 40-hour course will cover all of the OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120 HAZWOPER competencies for Hazardous Materials Technician. It will allow the participant to enter Hazardous Materials hot zones in order to control spills and leaks with offensive measures designed to protect property and the environment. The course will also address NFPA 472 chapter 8 competencies for HazMat technicians. A combination of lecture and hands-on practical exercise will be utilized.
This program will further cover requirements by the Department of Homeland Security for performance level offensive response to suspected terrorism incidents.
Use of protective clothing, basic chemistry, air-monitoring instruments, control containment and confinement techniques, and terrorism threat assessment are a few of the topics that will be covered.
