Multi-hazard Planning for Schools
The purpose of this course is to provide knowledge, skills and tools to develop effective emergency operations plans (EOPs) for school emergencies. Upon completion of the course, students should be able to:
  • Recognize that emergency planning for schools is community-based and continuing
  • Identify and assemble members of a planning team
  • Identify the types of hazards that present the highest risk for schools and the potential damage that the hazards cause
  • Identify and mitigate structural and nonstructural hazards
  • Develop or revise an all-hazard emergency operations plan (EOP) based on lessons learned from exercises and/or actual emergencies
