School violence is a major issue in the US today. School safety and security is also of paramount concern. SEEM has extensive experience assisting schools with a myriad of school safety and security issues.
Experienced professionals from SEEM will meet with you to customize a program that meets your school's specific safety and security needs. We take an All Hazards Approach, which means we not only focus on school violence issues, but also on day-to-day safety and security issues, including accidents and natural disasters.
The CTP will assist you in designing and delivering a program that can include any custom designed mix of the following:
- Write your safety and/or security Policy
- Develop plans for Crisis Management, Emergency Response, Evacuation, etc.
- Work with your community emergency management officials, first responders, public health and hospital officials to be sure they are actively involved with your plans.
- Make recommendations on physical security devices that you should employ.
- Train your teachers, administrators, school nurses, bus drivers, coaches, cafeteria workers, custodians, parents and others how to identify safety and security issues on a routine basis, and what they should do about them as identified in your specify plans. Note: An Interactive School Safety and Security CD-ROM is also available to assist in this effort.
- Assist in developing and conducting both table0top and full scale exercises to "test" your plans - do they actually work in a real life situation.
- Assist you in developing and implementing a school system wide Threat Assessment Management Team (TAM) to gather information on potential threats, analyze the information, and act when, and to what extent warranted. This TAM effort will become the ongoing intelligence gathering and analysis program you need to help prevent future acts of school violence.
