Hospital Decontamination Operations
The Hospital Decontamination Operations training course is designed to provide hospital employees with the skills necessary to decontaminate patients exposed to chemical and biological agents. The course includes traditional classroom-style training during which time topics such as personal protective equipment and OSHA requirements. Students will have the opportunity to apply their knowledge and understanding of emergency operations plans in competency-based exercises, which provide a hands-on opportunity for students to utilize their hospital's equipment, materials and supplies they will use if a real incident occurs. Areas receiving special attention in the course include:

  • Regulations Overview
  • Incident Diagnosis
  • Characteristics of Hazardous Materials
  • Respiratory Protection
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Emergency Management Plans
  • Site Control and Decontamination
  • Hands on Exercises
