This course covers basic chemistry terminology and nomenclature. Trainees learn to identify the hazards of chemical products through recognition of chemical classes and families. The application of chemical properties to risk management is stressed. Classroom demonstrations will highlight chemical reactivity and incompatible chemical reactions. Topics include: using the periodic table, oxidizers, salts, hydrocarbons, and hydrocarbon derivatives. |
