| Small Airport Security |

The goal of this 8-hour course is to prevent small airports from being used to transfer or transport weapons of mass destruction (WMD), to prevent use of rural airports for terrorism against individuals, structures, and agriculture, and to assist public safety personnel in responding to small airports in the event of a natural disaster.
Law enforcement officers have important new small airport security responsibilities under the Ohio PATRIOT Act. This course will give officers a solid foundation of information about small airports, current threats, suspicious activity, and hazards that may be encountered during a response.
This course is instructed by personnel from the Federal Aviation Administration, Transportation Security Administration, and the Ohio Highway Patrol Office of Aviation, among others.
Course content includes:
General aviation and small airports in Ohio
Relevant provisions of the Ohio PATRIOT Act
Introduction to a generic small airport (signs, landing strip markings, etc,)
Current security threats to general aviation
Indicators of suspicious behavior/activity in the small airport environment
Resources available to law enforcement from the FAA’s Law Enforcement Assistance Program
Hazardous materials awareness in the small airport environment
