Accomplishments
Have trained over 90,000 people from across the country in various, safety, security and environmental workshops
Over 80% of the training programs are custom designed and conducted at the client’s location. In 2005, for example, SEEM trained 8,367 people, through offering 286 classes, at 166 different locations in 38 states, and 4 foreign countries
Only program in the US that integrates ES&H and Disaster Preparedness training, with a nationally recognized Center for Terrorism Preparedness and the opportunity to earn BS & MS degrees
National Affiliations
Selected by the Center for Disease Control as one of the 14 original National Centers for Public Health Preparedness (CPHP0 in 2001, to offer disaster preparedness training and education programs to the public health and medical communities
Named by the Federal Department of Homeland Security (DHS) as one of five charter members of the DHS funded Rural Domestic Preparedness Consortium (RDPC) in 2006. The mission of the RDPC is to develop and offer training programs to Rural First Responders and First Receivers on a nationwide basis.
State Affiliations and Initiatives
SEEM Executive Director is a member of the State Emergency Response Commission that oversees the functions of all the County Local Emergency Planning Committees
Association with the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio, since 1997, which has funded the training by SEEM of over 5,00 Volunteer Firefighters at 170 locations across Ohio
A member of State Homeland Security’s School Safety and Security Round Table
Activate Participation in Ohio Homeland Security’s Northern Border Security Initiative
Ongoing affiliation/MOU with other Ohio CPHP schools (Ohio State, Kent State and Cleveland State).
Nationwide Training Programs
Currently providing nationwide training to all ABC News Reporters, Cameramen, and Sound Technicians on How to Safely Respond to a Disaster. SEEM is training approximately 1,500 ABC Employees/yr. in California, Georgia, New York, Ohio, Michigan, Texas, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Ohio.
Conducted Nationwide Emergency Response Training for Roadway Express. Trained 1,200 employees /yr at 47 terminals in 30 states from 1997 until 2004.
Currently conducting Safety, Security and Environmental training for Ford Motor Company. Have trained over 25,000 Ford Employees from approximately 50 different Ford plants in 16 States, as well as Canada and Mexico since 1995.
A National Mass Casualty Webcast was conducted on October 5, 2005. This Webcast was a staged reaction to a bio-toxin release at a political rally, with victims self-transporting to a local hospital. Over 650 participants from 29 states and 4 foreign countries watched the Webcast live, or viewed the archived version.
A National Methamphetamine Lab Bust Webcast was conducted on April 6, 2006. Over 1,000 viewers from 48 states and 4 foreign countries participated in the event.
Additional Information/Qualifications
Have utilized a National Advisory Board of business, regulatory and academic representatives since the programs inception, to insure that all academic and training programs were meeting the current and future needs of the practitioners
Primary student/trainee base comes from the private sector, including such nationally known companies as: Ford Motor Company, Battelle Memorial Institute, AstraZeneca, Bayer Corp., Marathon Petroleum
Through grant funding from both the CDC and he Health Resource Services Administration (HRSA) SEEM has perfected the Webcasting of Emergency Response oriented training scenarios. Webcasting is the live, interactive "broadcast" of training programs via the trainee’s laptop or PC
